WAEC publishes WASSCE results for 2020; cancels 2,383 candidate papers;

The West African Exams Council (WAEC) wishes to remind its various members of the public that it has announced the preliminary results of the candidates who have sat in Ghana for the WASSCE School Applicants 2020. This follows the completion of all procedures for post-examination.

“The applicants’ grades will be submitted to their schools,” the statement said.

In a statement he released today, Friday, November 13, 2020, WAEC made this aware.

The subject outcomes of some 2,383 have however been cancelled.

This, WAEC explains, is due to those candidates’ alleged test malpractices.

“For engaging in collusion, taking foreign materials to the examination hall, and tearing part of their question papers to request assistance, the subject results of 2,383 candidates were canceled,” the statement said.

About WASSCE 2020
WASSCE 2020 began on July 20, 2020 and concluded on Saturday, September 5.

The analysis was written by 313,897 applicants around the country.

It started with realistic subjects for Decorative Arts applicants, such as basketry, drawing and woodwork.

Despite the WAEC’s steps to ensure a smooth operation, it was claimed that the investigation had its fair share of suspected query leaks stemming from the Council.

Any candidates rioted at their centers over the tight monitoring and in the end, ruined school property while using unsavoury words toward state officials.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) expelled the students involved in the unruly conduct, but President Akufo-Addo intervened and demanded that a second chance be granted.

A total of 375,763 students from 976 schools sat for the test, representing “8.6 points more than the 346,098 applicants in 2019.” 187,581 (49.9 percent) males and 188,182 (50.1 percent) females make up the 2020 admission number.
