The Western Regional Security Council has set a GH10,000 reward for the six-armed robbers who allegedly killed a 61-year-old man in Takoradi and wounded his wife.
The police are looking for the robbers who shot Mr. Charles Kwakye, who was in the country with his 42-year-old wife, Monica Nda, to finish a construction project, among other items.
They were based in Zurich, Switzerland.
The couple was attacked at Amanful in Takoradi at about 2 p.m. on Monday, April 12. The armed men who stole their belongings allegedly fled on two unregistered motorcycles.
Two other people were shot in similar attacks three days prior and are currently seeking medical treatment at the Effie Nkwanta Regional Hospital.
The police have already begun an active stop and search operation in Sekondi-Takoradi, with the seizure of all unregistered motorbikes and tricycles, dubbed “Aboboyaa.”
The Regional Security Council (REGSEC) is offering a reward of GH10,000 for anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of the six suspects, according to a news release dated Wednesday, April 14 and signed by the Western Regional Head of Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service, Deputy Superintendent of Police Olivia E.T. Adiku.
“Anyone with such reliable information should report to the nearest police station or call the Western Regional Police Command at 0249983333, 0244591076 or 0245961522,” it says.
“You can also contact the police by calling 18555, 191, or 112 toll-free, or by sending a WhatsApp message to 02026639122.”
“The Command assures the public of the utmost confidentiality… and further assures citizens in the Sekondi Takoradi metropolis and its environs that the security situation is peaceful and under control,” the statement continues.
