Alhassan Yabdoo, the District Chief Executive(DCE) for Karaga, was shot and killed by his chauffeur.
Assailants shot and murdered the driver, Ziblim Issah, at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Saturday.
When he was attacked, he was heading from Tamale to Karaga. When the driver was shot and died, the DCE was not in the car.
The event is being investigated by the police. The situation is being investigated as a robbery, according to them.
According to the police, “there is no indication that the DCE was a target in the incident thus far.”
“What we know now is that it was a robbery since some items were taken from the vehicle,” Supt. Bernard Baba Ananga of the Northern Regional Police Command told Citi News.
He continued, “It’s too early for us to say whether there was an attempt on his [Alhassan Yabdoo’s] life.”
As part of the investigation into the event, Supt. Ananga stated police would meet with the DCE, Mr. Yabdoo, later on Sunday, May 30, 2021.
