Six illegal miners were killed at Mpohor Banso in the western region of Ghana after they were caved in by a Galamsey pit where they were mining.
Narrating the story, Mr. Ignatius Asaah Mensah, Mpohor ‘s District Chief Executive, told newsmen that after smuggling to hunt for gold, the six young men were stuck in an abandoned Galamsey dump.
Two of the illegal miners’ dead bodies were pulled from the pit shortly after the sad event occurred on Wednesday 14 October, while the other four were pulled in the late hours of Thursday 15 October 2020.
Mr. Ignatius Asaah Mensah notes that, as they are not from the city, the families and backgrounds of the six young men are also being investigated.
