The cleaner of Prof Benneh acknowledged his role in murder-State prosecutors tell the court

State investigators say Yaw Benneh, a cleaner at the home of the deceased law professor, has admitted to his role in the brutal shooting.

It is said that two other individuals were identified as his accomplices, leading the state to drop charges against three others.

Officers from the Ghanaian Police Service were also able to arrest one of the accomplices.

On 16 September, state prosecutors brought a murder charge against four people, namely Christian Pobee, James Nana Womba, Isaac Botchwey, and Adams Mensah Mansur.

But the case against Isaac Botchwey, Christian Pobee and Adams Mensah was dismissed by the state today.

The one said to have finessed his involvement is James Nana Womba, a cleaner at the late lecturer ‘s residence.

Since then, one Opambour Agya Badu, identified by the prosecutors as a designated accomplice of Mr. Womba, has been arrested and charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

The state attorneys believe attempts are ongoing to apprehend the other two while they received an arrest warrant from the judge to issue them.

In court, the identities of the two were not mentioned.

The two suspects now on appeal were remanded to reappear in police custody on 14 October.

At his Adjirigano mansion in Accra, Prof Emmanuel Yaw Benneh was reportedly assassinated.

Days after that, his body was discovered with his hands tied and his mouth stuffed with cloth.
