President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was sworn in after being re-elected in the presidential elections last year.
He was sworn in by Chief Justice Anin Yeboah in Parliament on Thursday 7 January 2020.
His Vice President, Dr. Mahammudu Bawumia, was also sworn in on the same day.
Several dignitaries, including former President John Agyekum Kufuor, attended the gathering.
World leaders, including the President of Côte d’Ivoire, Alhassane Ouattara, and several others participated.
Speaker of Parliament, the session was chaired by Alban Bagbin.
The President congratulated Mr. Bagbin on his election as Speaker of Parliament.
“I am confident that both of us will be guided by the supreme interest of our people,” said Mr. Akufo-Addo in his opening speech.
He vowed to collaborate with Mr. Bagbin to “promote peace, progress and prosperity.”
Both of them became Members of Parliament.
