Parliament Speaker Alban Bagbin announced that the Suame MP, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu is the 8th Parliament’s leader in majority voting.
He also ruled that the minority leader is Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu.
At the House floor on Friday, Honorable Bagbin said that the public need not be misled about the matter of tis.
He said that he is directed by Parliament’s standing order and will still adhere to orders.’
He said: “The Standing Orders also stipulate that a leader shall lead the majority party and that leader shall be recognized as the leader of majorities and Order 160 or Ordre 168 dictates that the leader of majorities chair both the Business Committee and the House Committee, which is the standing order which we have now and I am directed by this. “So don’t try to confuse the public, please.
“So the leader of the majority is the Honorable Osei-Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, the leader of the minority the Honorable Haruna Iddrisu”
Last week Alban Bagbin said that the parliamentary caucus of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Independent Fomena legislator, and Mr. Andrew Asiamah Amoako after he was formally informed by the Second Deputy Speaker of the company with the NPP Caucus, constitute the majority faction in Parliament.
