Independence Day festivities suspended over COVID-19

The 64th Independence Day celebration, scheduled to take place on 6 March 2021, was canceled by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
This was included in a memo released by the Ghana Education Service (GES) to all Municipal and District Education Directors and Heads of all Schools on Monday, 15 February.

“Management of the Ghana Education Service wishes to inform all regions that the 64thIndependence Day Anniversary Parade on 6 March 2021 has been suspended forthwith across the country,” said the GES.

The suspension follows a rise in cases of coronavirus in Ghana.
