Fomena M, Asiamah Amoako writes to the Speaker formally to join the NPP caucus

Andrew Asiamah Amoako, the Sole Member of Parliament for Fomena, who is also the 2nd Deputy Speaker, formally wrote to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon. Alban Bagbin told him of his intention to be affiliated with Parliament’s New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus.

This suggests that awaiting the outcome of the series of legal cases launched by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) against certain parliamentary seats won by the NPP in the elections of 7 December 2020, the NPP is most likely to constitute the majority of Parliament.

“The letter from the Fomena Lawmaker, Asiamah Amoako to the Speaker dated 13 January 2021 stated, “I Asiamah Amoako, an Elected Member of Parliament for Fomena Constituency and now the 2nd Deputy Speaker for the same Parliament, hereby announce that I shall affiliate myself with the NPP caucus in the Eighth Parliament for the purpose of transacting business in the Assembly.

“I hereby affirm, to avoid doubt, that I shall cooperate and collaborate in the Eight Parliament with the NPP Caucus.”
