Eight people are said to have died in a gruesome tragedy in Afigya Kwabre

On Monday, June 7, a grisly tragedy happened in Soko, a farming hamlet in the Afigya Kwabre North District of the Ashanti Region, killing eight people.
The reason of the collision is unknown, however an eyewitness informed Akoma FM’s Kwame Yeboa that a Sprinter bus from Kumasi with the registration number GT 4013-14 collided with a tipper truck with the registration number WR 1653-A.

The eyewitness, who spoke in Twi, stated that the passenger bus was speeding, which caused the driver to lose control of the wheel.

He said that when the two cars collided, the mate of the tipper truck smashed his head on the road and died instantaneously, while the driver managed to escape.
The majority of the victims, though, were in the Sprinter bus, which lost its driver and companion, as well as six other passengers.


Around 7:45 a.m., the accident happened.

The injured, numbering around three, were all transported to the St Patrick Government Hospital in Offinso South Municipality.

The Assembly member for Soko Abroma Electoral Area, Akwasi Clement, who was called to the site and then summoned the National Ambulance Service, emphasized the need for drivers to be cautious on that stretch owing to the hazard.
