BECE:Eight in police detention over leaking of exams

Due to their suspected role in the leaking of test questions for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE), eight people were rounded up by the police.

On Friday, Rev. Victor Brew, Head of Legal for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), announced to journalists in Accra.

He said more steps against the perpetrators will be taken.

We have now gone forward with the question of leakage and reported these allegations and have handed them over to the security forces, in particular to National Security and BNI.

Any of the people who were arrested after the exams started to help in inquiries into these problems with snapping question papers.

“We had eight people rounded up in Accra yesterday, and three were picked up in Obuasi and handed over to the police,” he said.
