On Friday night, police in Kaneshie shot and killed an alleged thief at the Awudome Cemetery after he stabbed and robbed a passer-by.
According to investigators, he was shot dead while attempting to rob another passenger for the second time.
According to a police situational paper, the robber, who was part of a two-man gang, assaulted a gentleman who was walking along with the SSNIT Building towards the Obetsebi Lamptey Roundabout.
The gang stabbed him in the neck and stole his black bag, which included spare parts, his phone, and GHS250 in cash.
He dashed to a nearby police station for help, but the thieves were nowhere to be seen when the cops arrived.
The police searched the nearby bushes but were unable to locate them.
They then set up a trap, and the criminals reappeared to try and rob another person.
According to the police account, one of them, a man in his early twenties, was wounded, while the other managed to flee.
The robber was shot and taken to the Police Station, but he was pronounced dead.
His body was taken to the mortuary of the Police Hospital for identification and autopsy.
